I am an electrician and i have tried dozens of different hole drilling methods before i found these great bits. I love these bits so I bought a few sets and I never have to plug in a corded drill again. I use them on a daily basis with my Dewalt 18v cordless drills. They blast through 2x4's with ease without the heavy grab that the DareDevil spade bits have. when you find something that works you stick with it. The case and the rapid feed tip is what attracted me first and the performance is what kept me.
The threaded end actually pulls your drill through the work piece. This works good in 2 by material.The case is great.more tools should come in FLAT cases. I find that using an impact driver works best and the last 1/4 inch you have to put some pressure on it to break through the wood on account of the threaded tip not having anything to grab on to at the end of a hole. The holes are not too clean, but spade bits never are. It takes up minimal space in my tool bag unlike tool sets with bulky plastic containers. In fact, a big reason I bought this set was because of the flat case design.I will probably buy more Bosch stuff just because of the well though out cordura flat cases.
I needed the "case", great price,best "spade bits I've had" used properly for what & how intended there should be no complaint from the skilled worker. "Buy American".
This bit set has a nice assortment of bits that cut very fast for a spade bit. Some of the bits that I had already used had rust all over them. Make sure to keep them dry. The case is very nice and I will be using it for other bits as these wear out. This set is a good deal if you add up what it would cost to purchase them individually. The blades are hard to sharpen, so don't expect to do so unless you have the proper equipment. They are sharp and produce clean holes in most woods. The unused ones still had the original oil on them that kept them in good condition.
The wings on the edges are what make them hard to re-sharpen.These bits will rust if they get wet. I had rain leak into the back of my covered pickup truck and the case got wet and I didn't notice it for a day. The case protects and transports them very well. I will be purchasing a whole new set when the 4 or 5 most used bits sizes get worn in my set.
This is a great spade bit set. Bits work great and the case fits perfectly in my drill bag.
